Making an Escaportfolio

Or why, in the midst of my internship research, I gamified my portfolio

Step 4

Making mini-games

and adding miscellaneous

This Escaportfolio contains mini-games !
Because what’s better than games within games?

You have the (nice) insult simulator

I wanted to reuse the usual aspect of Twine, but allowing people to create real stories would have given
too much importance to this mini-game, when it’s supposed to be optionnal.
So I went for one of my usual little amusements, which is to swear at things without using swearwords.

The marble race

Which the player has to complete to get the final clue.
It’s a simple click and advance game, that I’m using to show a paper concept of a game idea.

A town with villagers to talk to

Title Yet to be Found is a meta game. So it was only mandatory to make the navigator version of it meta as well.
You can talk with all of the characters and even pet the wolf.
Some will help you on advancing in the escape game. Others will show you my work on the Unity version of the game.
While some will just talk to you as if you were a newcomer.

Miscellaneous

Then, as I wanted to recreate the initial desktop setting, I had to find little miscellaneous things to put in all of the icons.
I could’ve chosen not to, but I just really love this type of flavor.

The hidden hint

This my cousin’s cat “Paillette”.
I often take polaroid pictures in my free time.
And thus used the infamous rule of the “animal tax” that exists in online websites like imgur.
The background is a blured screenshot of my blog presenting some of the movies I have worked on.
And I hid a little hint, reexplaining to the player that all passwords must be entered in capital letters.

Broken Unreal

Unreal is already broken if you try to open in on the initial desktop.
Here, I added a mosaic effect to accentuate the alternative feeling of the second desktop.
The background image is a project I worked on with art students called “Absurd Supermarket”
where I was in charge of the level design + art and integration of assets.
Its a supermarket with items impossible to use, like a floppy broom or a toothbrush with teeth.
And clicking on an item makes it multiply. So you can fill the supermarket with cloned items.

Turning the lights on and off

Day. Night. Day. Night. Day...

They’re here for the sake of ✨️Flavor✨️& immersion
